Ireland

Miriam Keegan is a social compliance associate at FLA. Based in her home country of Ireland, Keegan is dedicated to FLA’s accreditation program, supporting numerous brands on their journey to adhere to the Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing and Production. Keegan works closely with FLA’s global social compliance team to ensure that manufacturing companies improve upon fair working conditions in their supply chains through factory assessments, member engagement, and training.

Prior to joining FLA in 2023, Keegan was a primary school teacher in Ireland and changed careers when she was awarded the Fulbright-EPA award in 2021, where she completed her master’s degree in sustainability and fashion at the University of Delaware. Keegan has received numerous awards and scholarships including, most recently, the Mary Immaculate College Alumni of the Year Award in 2023. Having been featured in numerous research publications, in 2024 Keegan conducted the first ever life cycle assessment on an Irish-made tweed blazer and led the first fashion brand in Ireland to receive B Corp certification.

Deeply passionate about sustainability in the fashion industry, Keegan is actively engaged with the Irish fashion industry and became a member of the Irish Department of Environment, Climate, and Communication’s Textile Advisory Group in 2024, seeking to ensure the environmental and social sustainability of the textile value chain. She recently gave a keynote speech on sustainability in fashion at Áras an Uachtaráin (House of the President), with the president of Ireland in attendance. Keegan enjoys sewing and hosts nationwide workshops and online courses teaching beginning sewing lessons.
