FLA and adidas collaborate on factory safety training in Pakistan
FLA and adidas organized a joint training session in Lahore, Pakistan, covering fire, structural, and electrical safety in factory settings. Style Textile, a long-standing adidas supplier, hosted the three-day training from August 28 to August 30.
Sourcing limited suppliers and authorized external monitors for adidas in Pakistan, as well as United Nations Development Programme representatives, participated in the classroom training and gained a solid understanding of key concepts related to fire, structural, and electrical safety. The training effectively addressed common misunderstandings around these topics and shed light on the challenges suppliers face, including issues related to the implementation of federal legislation that impacts various aspects of safety, and the difficulty in finding reliable suppliers and service providers for devices, materials, and equipment used in safety systems.
There was significant demand for this training and a limited number of seats. Given the interest, future trainings on this topic with broader participation could significantly enhance the country’s capacity in terms of fire, structural, and electrical safety within factories.
