Beginning Thursday, August 15, Fair Labor Association is accepting applications for the FLA Student Committee for the 2024-25 academic year.
The student committee provides real-life learning, professional development, and networking with experts dedicated to human rights to graduate and undergraduate students enrolled at FLA member colleges and universities.
Learn more about the FLA Student CommitteeCriteria for candidates: Undergraduate or graduate students at FLA member colleges or universities are eligible to apply for the student committee. Ideal candidates demonstrate personal, professional, and/or academic interest in human rights, labor conditions, and social responsibility.
Commitment: Students are expected to commit three to five hours per month to committee activities from October 2024 to April 2025, including joining Zoom sessions one to two days each month.
Committee activities:
Monthly professional development seminar (one hour per month – attendance required)
- Network with peers, learn from subject matter experts, and interact with professionals and academics in the fields of human rights and social responsibility.
Student committee journal (two to three hours per month – optional)
- Choose to write an article and/or support the peer editing process to apply learning, showcase leadership, and demonstrate scholarship in human rights and social responsibility.
- Monthly workshop sessions will allow students to work together through the research, writing, and editing process. Students participating as authors/editors will be expected to spend asynchronous time working on the FLA Student Committee Journal.
Access to FLA events and resources (one hour per month – optional)
- FLA e-Learning module access.
- FLA board and University Caucus meetings and other events.
- Emails from FLA with resources and current events.
Application process:
The application period begins on Thursday, Aug. 15, and concludes on Sunday, Sept. 29. All interested students should submit an application. Selected FLA Student Committee members will be notified by September 30, 2024, and the first committee convening will be in early October.
