FLA welcomes new members L’Oreal and TIMTAS at September meeting

Issues Fair Labor

At its meeting on September 20, the FLA Board of Directors approved the applications of two new FLA Participating Companies: L’Oreal and TIMTAS.

L’Oreal, the world’s largest beauty and personal care company, has worked with FLA on a project basis since 2021 and is an active participant in FLA’s Harvesting the Future programs in Türkiye and Egypt. L’Oreal will pursue Fair Labor Accreditation (agriculture program) for coconut sourcing in Indonesia and the Philippines.

TIMTAS, a family corporation that has operated in Türkiye since the 1940s, is a key supplier of fig paste to companies in North America and Europe. TIMTAS will pursue Fair Labor Accreditation (agriculture program) for fig sourcing in Türkiye.

Companies that join FLA commit to ensuring fair labor practices and safe and humane working conditions throughout their supply chains. The Fair Labor Accreditation program for agriculture is designed to verify and strengthen working conditions in the agricultural tiers of a company’s global supply chain.

To earn Fair Labor Accreditation, agriculture companies must meet a rigorous series of milestones that mark progress in implementing, monitoring, and remediating workplace standards based on FLA’s Fair Labor Practices. Each milestone represents a key building block in the continuous journey toward developing an effective human rights due diligence program that improves working conditions and worker well-being.
