Fair Labor Association announces planned CEO transition
WASHINGTON, DC, June 13, 2023 – The Fair Labor Association (FLA) today announced that FLA President and CEO Sharon Waxman has notified the FLA Board of Directors of her intention to step down from her position following more than seven years of leading the organization.
The Board has selected a search committee – Karen Tramontono (Global Fairness Initiative), Liz Kennedy (UCLA), Michael Levine (Under Armour), and Yann Wyss (Nestle) – to be led by Board Chairman Michael Posner. The Board also has retained Russell Reynolds Associates, an independent executive search firm, to conduct a global search for FLA’s next President and CEO.
“We have been exceptionally fortunate to have Sharon at the helm of FLA these last seven years. The organization is stronger in every way due to her leadership and the team she has built,” said Posner. “Today we are launching a search process to recruit her successor. We are casting a wide net, looking to identify a dynamic, strategic leader to continue building FLA and charting its future course.”
“It has been my honor to work with the FLA Board of Directors, members, and staff to advance our shared mission of promoting human rights at work, and I am extraordinarily proud of what we have accomplished together,” said Waxman. “Our commitment to improving working conditions for the people who make the clothes we wear and the food we eat is stronger than ever. Our staff is extraordinarily capable, our programs are solid, and our finances are strong. I am confident that a new leader will be able to build on these and our many other successes.”
