FLA Wage Data Collection Tool 2.0

The Wage Data Collection Tool 2.0 is an Excel-based model that is straightforward and scalable, allowing companies to gather worker wage data from apparel and footwear factories. FLA updated this tool in October 2024 after a year of consultation with FLA members, stakeholders, and the Fair Compensation Taskforce led by businesses. The major updates to the tool reflect feedback from civil society organizations and experts on wage measurement, including:

  • Expansion of the number of categories of workers from four to eight, allowing for gender disaggregated wage data collection or wage data collection by skill-level;
  • Coverage of 12 months of wage data to increase the scope;
  • Removal of supervisor benefit data in the cash and in-kind benefits; and
  • Addition of the lowest wage and the bargained wage data points.

FLA provides this tool at no cost to companies working to measure their living wage gap in supply chains. The companion SaaS – the Fair Compensation Dashboard – allows companies to analyze average worker wages, measure those wages against living wage benchmarks from more than 30 countries, and track progress over time. In June 2024, FLA debuted to its members and subscribers of the Dashboard the online wage data collection tool – aligned with the methodology of this updated Excel-based tool. The online wage data collection tool automates data validation for live feedback to factories and suppliers and is available through the subscribing to the Fair Compensation Dashboard.
